Are you entitled to Severe Disability Premium?

If you receive one of the following benefits you might be entitled to Severe Disability Premium, which could mean an extra £65 per week. The rules are complicated, but you could be entitled if all the four points below apply to you.

Step 1

1. You receive one or more of these benefits:

  • Income related Employment and Support Allowance
  • Income based Jobseekers Allowance
  • Income Support
  • Housing Benefit
Step 2

2. You also receive one of these:

  • Daily Living Component of Personal Independence Payment (PIP)
  • Middle or High Rate Care Component of Disability Living Allowance (DLA)
  • Armed Forces Independence Payment (AFIP)
  • Constant Attendance Allowance
  • Exceptionally Severe Disablement Allowance
Step 3

3. Nobody looking after you is paid Carer’s Allowance or has a Carer Element included in their Universal Credit.

Step 4

4. You live alone or are treated as living alone.
